If you've ever had a brilliant idea vanish before you could write it down, this one's for you. The Claude Notion integration lets you brainstorm with AI and save everything directly to Notion, without switching apps, copying and pasting, or losing your train of thought.
I stumbled across this while working on my "app a month" challenge, where I use AI to help me build a new app every month (vibe coding, they call it). Ideas were flying around constantly, and I needed somewhere reliable to put them. That's when I discovered Claude connects directly to Notion.
Why This Matters if You Work for Yourself
When you're a solopreneur or freelancer, ideas are everything. Blog post topics, product ideas, solutions to client problems. They pop up at the worst times. On a walk. In the shower. 3am. And by the time you get to your desk? Gone.
What I love about connecting Claude to Notion is that I can brainstorm with Claude, have it summarise the key points, and then send everything neatly to Notion without ever leaving the chat window. No app-switching, no scribbled notes I can't read later. And here's the really useful bit: Claude can access those saved ideas later to help me refine them further.
I wish I'd had this years ago when I was freelancing as a graphic designer. I used to keep ideas in about fourteen different places. Scraps of paper, random text files, the back of envelopes. This would have saved me from myself.
How to Connect Claude to Notion (5 Minutes, No Tech Skills)
You don't need any technical knowledge for this. The whole setup takes about five minutes:
1. Enable the Notion connector in Claude. Go to the sidebar, click Customise, then Connectors. Search for Notion and add it.
2. Create an ideas page in Notion. Just a simple page will do. I called mine "My Ideas" because I'm creative like that. Copy the share link from the top right of the page.
3. Set up a Project in Claude. Paste the Notion link into the project instructions along with a prompt like: "Help me brainstorm ideas and save them to my Notion when I ask."
That's it. From then on, every conversation you start in that project, Claude already knows exactly where to send your notes.
Can You Use Claude and Notion Together on Your Phone?
Yes, and this is where it gets properly useful. You can do all of this from the Claude app on your phone. So when an idea wakes you up at 3am (why is it always 3am?), you don't have to lie there desperately trying to remember it until morning. Just open Claude, brainstorm for a minute, and let it send a tidy summary to Notion for you. Then go back to sleep.
It works just as well on a quick walk or waiting for the kettle to boil. Anywhere you'd normally lose a thought, basically.
Quick FAQ
Do I need a paid Claude account to connect to Notion?
You need a Claude Pro plan to access the Connectors feature and Projects. It's not available on the free tier.
Can Claude read my existing Notion pages?
Yes. Once connected, Claude can access the Notion pages you've shared with it, which means it can pull up your saved ideas and help you build on them in future conversations.
Is it difficult to set up if I'm not technical?
Not at all. If you can copy and paste a link, you can do this. The whole thing takes about five minutes.
